About Jessica Moe, Psy.D.

I understand how difficult and anxiety provoking it can be to think about talking to a total stranger about your troubles. Sharing your difficulties can make you feel vulnerable and that may be a scary and uncomfortable feeling for you. You may be worried about being judged or being perceived as weak. My goal is to make therapy a place where you do not feel judged, instead feel free to explore all of your thoughts and feelings in a safe place so that you can begin to heal. In order for you to get the most out of your therapy, it is important for you to be able to trust the therapist you are working with and feel like you have made the right choice. I think it is very important for you to feel connected to your therapist and therefore would like to tell you a little bit about myself.

I am Dr. Jessica Moe and am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist trained to treat a wide range of mental/ emotional difficulties. My primary interests include anxiety disorders, self esteem issues, toxic shame, life transitions, stress and coping, substance abuse, relationship issues, and LGBTQ issues. I received my Bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida and both Masters and Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the Florida School of Professional Psychology in Tampa, FL. I completed my pre-doctoral internship in community mental health at the DuPage County Health Department in Lombard, Illinois which is 45 minutes outside of Chicago. After graduating with my doctorate, moved to Palm Beach County to complete my residency at a drug and alcohol treatment center and decided to make Palm Beach County my permanent home. Over the course of my educational and professional career, I have worked in a variety of settings ranging from college counseling, community mental health, residential/ outpatient programs to private practice. This has provided me the opportunity to acquire extensive experience in individual, couples, and family therapy with individuals ranging in ages from late adolescence to adults. I also have extensive training in conducting psychological and neuropsychological assessments with clients of all ages.

In my role as a Psychologist, I believe in the importance of being flexible. I tailor my approach to the needs of each client with the overall goal of helping clients attain balance, self compassion, and a healthier level of functioning through the development of insight, self awareness, and coping skills. Instead of focusing on the “what is wrong with” you, we will explore the “what happened.” Many of the ways in which we think, feel, and act are influenced by our earlier experiences and are carried out in adulthood. To get out of very ingrained ways of being, we must pay attention to when these familiar patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors come up which hinder us from living the way we really want to live. We will work collaboratively to identify, understand, and learn tools to cope with these patterns to allow you to increase your overall life satisfaction while improving your ability to cope with everyday stressors.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time outdoors, exercising, as well as spending time with friends, family and the family dog. I am passionate about social issues and an ally of the LGBTQ community.
